I was hoping they would keep the $399 price point, but I think it was fairly clear from the moment they kept the LCD model around as the cheap option after launching the OLED model that they would eventually discontinue the LCD version.
It’s exactly the same tactic Apple has often used to obfuscate a price hike, by the time the old model with the attractive price is dropped without any replacement at that price point, the press have moved on.
With the AI bubble induced crisis in the cost of RAM and storage, now I’m just hoping they don’t increase the starting price of the OLED version.
