French indie studio Accidental Queens are closing and delisting their games from Steam

Regarding the deep discounts. It's only on steam, not GOG (the discounts). But they also include the OSTs under discount. Also multiple in discount from the publisher, so the timing might be to accommodate this last lunar NY sale.

" Explore the social life of Laura in this spiritual sequel to A Normal Lost Phone. "

Alt-Frequencies

"An audio mystery set in a time loop. Record, rewind time and broadcast snippets of radio shows to expose radio hosts, conspiracy theorists and politicians."
I knew the developer from the Lost Phone ones and didn't know about this one, so thanks for the tip Liam. Also not in GOG (the Alt-Frequencies game, dev page on GOG [External Link] only shows the lost phone games).

EDIT: detailed on each case what I meant by non on GOG (either the discount or the specific game missing).

Hmm, checking their site, it seems Microprose is also publishing some unexpected, though quite interesting ones (that I had missed):

My Votes (so far), using games that I played, either full or in demos, and trying to keep a different one in each category to maximise the total number of recommended games:

Have not played Clair Obscure, Dispatch, Abiotic Factor which would change the list.

Humble Choice for May is stacked with STAR WARS: Bounty Hunter, The Thaumaturge, Amnesia: The Bunker and more

Really want to try Shadow's Gambit. Just finished last month's 1000xResist and it was a blast. I wardly get pumped up by the headliners, but there's usually one that I've been on the fence to buying that suddenly pops into by fav games ever.

Promise Mascot Agency is another collectathon crazy adventure from the guys behind Paradise Killer. Once again they nailed it on the strange setting and humour. It was released a few days ago and already had overwhelming positive.

Make it so, engage or something for the Steam Space Exploration Fest

Quoting: JarmerA game I have had wish-listed for forever just released to 1.0 just in time for this fest! I highly recommend you try it out if you're a fan of the genre.

Starcom Unknown Space:

Interested!

Found about that one in this steam fest and looks cool as I didn't play/knew the previous one. I also see another game with cult following, Starsector, which seems to be referenced every other review and which I never knew about.

This last one is not in steam, but it has modding and apparently linux versions too.

No Man's Sky adds fishing, a fishing skiff, a new expedition, deep-sea diving and loads more
4 Sep 2024 at 7:01 pm UTC

Actually makes sense, worlds part I update was a success in terms of nr. of players, so they get to flesh out the added water and do a smaller thematic expedition around it, while keeping fan-base happy without having to wait for the worlds part II.

At the same time, in the previous update they told most of the water stuff had to do with optimizations and developments on the Light No Fire engine that were back-ported to No Man Sky. NMS fishing serves as a safe test bed to develop (and try to go crazy) with fishing so it will properly work later on their survival new game.

Take this game anywhere!
No Man Sky is one of the top played games on Steam Deck!
By the way, checking the Steam page, it's the first time I see a STEAM DECK TOP PLAYED header. Is this new?

EDIT: typos

Humble Choice for September 2024 has Guardians of the Galaxy, Coral Island, Stranded: Alien Dawn
3 Sep 2024 at 9:39 pm UTC

Interesting... was not expecting for Coral Island to be already included (even though it's published by Humble). I would have bet that Signalis would be first. Well that's why I don't do bets anyway! :)

The Beamdog & Owlcat RPG Humble Bundle has some killer games in it

I put Rogue Trader a bit on freeze to wait for the bugs to clear too, but those first levels alone are gold. In the freaking first dialog scene, your loyalty is already being tested. If that does not set the tone I don't know what would.

I'm not very tuned into the WH40K stories, but was certainly pleased as sci-fi lover in general. One of the first missions had a cool old fallout vibe for example.

The huge graphics overhaul for settlement survival sim Necesse is out now
14 Aug 2024 at 10:21 pm UTC

I still didn't got into liking 100% the new graphics, but it was a very nice gesture that the dev published a mod in steam with the old graphics pack, and open sourced it in case community would want to maintain it further:

The texture pack will not be supported by the team in future updates, since it would require us to draw every new texture twice in both styles. The community is welcome to pick up support though, and for that reason we have made the mod open source on GitHub
