If META could make a Quest-3 with OLED and Eyetracking, and near to the same price, it be the ticket.
BUT given the way PC hardware is going, seems its all going to inflate in price and further cripple fringe industries like VR/MR.
I have a Q3 that I don't use much (too busy with other stuff), and really the BIGGEST turn off for me is the terrible LCD that just BLEEDS backlight everywhere, there are NO BLACKS, its all just grey and you can see the lamp behind the LCD.
The issue with this is basically ANY game that isn't NEON PASTEL color palette looks terrible. There are areas in games like HLA where you can't see anything because the backlight bleed washes out the finite dark room detail.
So many Dungeon crawling games I'd love to play but can't see crap and turning brightness up just ruins it so much. Black Crush!
Steam-Frame is likely to have the same issue so I think; I'll just sell off my VR stuff along with most stuff I own at this point. Need to enter ultra-conservative spending and asset ownership during these tough times. lol

Steam Machine verification will have "fewer constraints" than Steam Deck - but text sizing worries me

FSR4 will only give %10 better performance at a slight improvement of image quality because only the RDNA4 hardware has proper access to NPU stuff.
Honestly, its a DAMN shame they didn't get a 9600 GPU into these things, but I guess Valve just buying up OLD unsellable hardware at this point, since AI data-centers are locking the world out of the newer stuff for the foreseeable future. (unless you want to pay through your ass for it that is!)

Quoting: ArehandoroWill all Steam Deck Verified games run at 4K@60FPS? Cause they said all Steam Machine Verified games would...720p upscaled. The poor 7600 AMD GPU can only do so much, it also only really has access to FSR3.

I hope Valve shows us some OVERHEAD hit for all these, especially x86 via FEX
I want to know how badly these translation layers are going to EAT up CPU/GPU resources as they do their thing.

Steam Next Fest - February 2026 Edition: February 23 - March 2
Guessing this will be when they decide to talk more about their upcoming steam hardware and maybe even announce some pricing.
I don't know how Valve will satisfy people with pricing however as memory modules are rocketing into the outer orbits of the solar system!

if they can get the game so its UI and game upscale correctly to 1080p or 2160p or other higher resolutions then I'd be happen. (not FSR upscaling, I mean proper vector upscaling)

Give people the OFFLINE server application so they can host their OWN servers and continue playing with small groups of friends. THAT IS THE WAY!
Of cause it makes some game modes a little tricky such as raids unless someone hosts a 64 player or more server.
We are dangerously heading towards a future where creative arts and entertainment go bye bye on a daily basis from human history. We're essentially in the age of erasure! Erasing history!

Peter has also done some remakes such as Masters of Origin I think, however it really only got a passing grade.
Peter often gets passing grades with his latest games but not many EXCELLENCE rated games. (or on steam, overwhelmingly positive rating)

There is a lot they can do with gog galaxy; if they can make it more like playnite and then put in linux+proton/wine support on top, then they'd be quite set to sale.
However one of the big things steam has going is community features include fully fleshed out mod support!
Oh also VR support would no doubt help. Plus handheld support... Yeah Steam is a HARD nut to compete against, especially when your upper management only want to hoover off profit from selling games but don't want to put any effort into store functionality and compatibility (EGS and everyone else is a good example of this).
They continuously cry about Valve Steam monopoly but ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to ever even attempt to compete! There is more to selling games then just throwing them up on some horrible DRM store app!

It is a DARK future indeed, one that humanity will likely be forced to reject outside of the billionaires running the world who can afford it all. WHY? because eventually we won't have any money to actually use or benefit from this crap, not with the way society functions now, so unless their going to give people $2000 UBI per week then I see a major cataclysm coming.
I wonder how Earth will look with a %98 poverty rate?

Quoting: StenPettI wonder what will be left once the AI bubble bursts. I sincerely hope this "we need to put AI into *everything*" trend is one of the things that goes away...Well they are trying to make everything cloud based, right down to your toilet mate! What happens when the cloud has a bad day? or internet goes down? well often these devices just stop working. What happens when the company goes bust that is paying for this 'cloud' service? well they can send a KILL switch to all devices.
