Steam Machine verification will have "fewer constraints" than Steam Deck - but text sizing worries me

Text size is a concerning. They should also revise their classification and obviously say how much of the game was tested (which they probably never will).
I think it was a lost opportunity of sparing us from External Launchers Hell (:D) for a better rating level. They just worsen the experience on PC adding an unnecessary step, that consoles do not have. Something like a Just Press Play seal.
Maybe the Ways To Play menu should at least have a Linux Friendly or Friends of Linux games list or not I don't know.

NVIDIA Beta driver 590.44.01 released for Linux

It seems they forgot the information about Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta based GPUs now being supported only on 580 series.

And wouldn't 590 series be the one with many new things, and wayland related optimizations etc?

Where Winds Meet devs plan improved Steam Deck support

It's a beautiful game. The combat is very good. Have a sizeable number of options, overwhelming at times, but there is no lack of options.

Unfortunatelly have a lot of bugs with their audio dialogues: stopping out of nowhere, voice quality changing out of nowhere, voice volume changing out of nowhere. And the main unforgivable problem in 2025 for my Brazilian countrymen: not having at least subtitles/text translation for Brazilian Portuguese.

I never understood why SteamPlay wasn't always enabled by default. Glad it's now finally the default.

NVIDIA driver with Linux kernel 6.10 causing kernel oops
24 Aug 2024 at 6:35 pm UTC

I'm having similar problems for a while with 6.10 (fedora) and 6.10 (from cachyos on fedora). The problem only happens with early loading on my machine.
Setting the file /etc/dracut.conf.d/nvidia-dracut-force.conf with
   # https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dracut#Early_kernel_module_loading
   force_drivers+=" nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm

And running doas/sudo dracut --force --printsize --parallel --verbose makes the system not boot fully hanging on after LUKS password and some time after throwing a bunch of error/warning messages. BUT, even on Fedora 41/rawhide with kernel 6.11.xx it also happened.

Proton Experimental fixes The Elder Scrolls Online launcher & improves Street Fighter 6

Fixed The Elder Scrolls Online displaying an empty/flickering launcher window.
I never had problems with the launcher (playing since 2021), but the installer definitely have (had) black screens, flickering etc, I think that is the fix, probably. Glad they also fixed other ESO problems.
