"Microsoft is moving towards limiting Windows kernel-level access for security reasons, a shift that will impact kernel anti-cheat systems over time. Instead of granting direct kernel access, Microsoft is developing its own security sensors in the kernel that user-mode applications, including anti-cheat software, can utilize for checks."
I think that the real reason to not enable it on linux, is that we are just not enough users that they care enough about us to find a solution. The good news is that the linux gamers are constantly increasing, so that at some moment they will find a solution. Probably in the form of a linux module that one would have to install. Let us just hope that this will not take another 10 years.

Kernel updates come at least on a weekly basis ...
yes, this is why I was thinking that trusted companies could push the hashes to a server. This is something that could be easily automatized.

One question, could we not just sign the linux kernel and other parts, so that the anti cheat program would know that nothing has been altered? I am thinking about something like steam hosting a list of trusted hashes and that any company that is trusted by steam can push new hashes for theier compiled linux kernels there.

If we look the graphic, even with the drop, it look more like a exponential function. We will have to wait, but 5% in one year would not surprise me.

Would be interesting how many of this "33 million cheat attempt" was real ones or just incompatible hardware, outdated software or linux users trying to play. I work as a software developer and know that numbers should be looked carefully if you do not have any way to verify them.

My bigest problem is, that my steam index always crashes 3 seconds after start it, then I need press "restart healmset", start steamvr again and then it works. It taked me ages to figure it out. I am pretty sure, that not all users have discovered the trick to make it work.

Quoting: LibreTEKHopefully people begin making the switch due to Microsoft's gamble on forcing an AI "copilot" into their desktop OS. Not that I'm against AI but my goodness, that's gonna (as I said before, hopefully make users jump ship.

But all in all, exciting news! Been using Linux for over 10 years now and never thought it'd get to where it's at today.
Yes. AI is all about getting training data. Because of this, Microsoft tries to use his market position to get all the data from their clients.
