Quoting: EikeThe best game of the year(*) is available natively for Linux!

(*) according to some voting
To be fair, Silksong was in "platinum" for revenue while the other game of the year (E33) was gold. With a 20 euro / 50 euro price for those two, that also means Silksong wildly outsold E33. And that is a pretty relevant kind of voting, so deserved among Steam users.

Arriving early next year, Dune: Awakening - Chapter 3 is sounding great

Quoting: CaldathrasI don't expect much more from these MMO's. In my experience, they all utilize the same formulaic approach to gameplay and have shallow, boring quests and storylines.
A long time ago when I put something like 10 hours into Guild Wars 2 I came to the conclusion that the problems of MMOs are that they are MMOs.

Many people together on different hardware, different internet speeds and in different locations. And somehow they need to make that mess work in gameplay. No surprise that major sacrifices need to be made.

Same with story. If have people from every level of progression together in the same game, then there are some severe limitations as to what you can do.

After that I decided MMOs are not worth my time.

Quoting: 14Do any of the complainers explain what they want it to look like? Or is that a guessing game? I can't tell if people want it to look retro with higher resolution, or if they want it to look like Space Marine 2 fidelity.
How about making it look like a cohesive whole instead of a bunch of random assets slapped together. You can't just put a high resolution texture on a flat surface and think it'll work. This looked like low grade mod stuff and would be the type of mod I'd actively avoid.

Quoting: phil995511I have much more confidence in Steam's funding model via Early Access !! And I find it hard to understand why the developers at KSA refuse to publish their game on Steam in early access...
Probably because it's way too early to call it early access. I guess they're more at the tech demo stage at this point.

Talking point - what have you been playing lately?
11 Dec 2025 at 4:09 pm UTC

I've been trying out some games on Amazon Luna. Up till now, I had ignored it since the free stuff was less than interesting. But they put Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (a game too heavy for my pc) and Hogwarts Legacy (a game unsuitable for purchase due to failing consumer friendliness restrictions) on there so I've been playing those.

I've enjoyed my time, but it's immediately clear to me that this is not the default way that I want to play my games. Input lag is noticeable. This especially problematic in menus and when trying to fire a gun. Not really an issue with other stuff though as these games are not particularly quick.

Factorio mod developer and Hooded Horse reveal new automation game Substructure

Well, that looks like one of the most blatant copies of the Factorio mechanics so far. No too surprising for a Factorio modder I suppose, but at this point I don't see anything there that hasn't already been done in Factorio mods. And we'll have to see how well they fare at copying the engine.

The Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless mouse is a great reasonably priced pick

My favourite thing about using logitech mice is that they're comfortable (for me anyway) and piper/libratbag lets you configure everything. Even better, that configuration is stored on the mouse, so it retains everything even after a reinstall. In fact, I don't think I've even installed piper on the my last two reinstalls. While I'm not opposed to trying other brands, this mouse stored configuration is not something I expect everywhere.

Disadvantage is that the quality can be a bit "meh" sometimes.

Quoting: EikeWould that be Black Mesa then?
There are arguments to be made for both the original and Black Mesa, so if graphics are appreciated then Black Mesa is definitely a good choice. HL2 still holds up by itself. I'd definitely recommend doing those before HL:Alyx though.

According to Epic CEO Tim Sweeney - game stores don't need an AI label as it will be everywhere
27 Nov 2025 at 10:48 pm UTC Likes: 3

Quoting: Kimyrielle@Ehvis, the point being made by Sweeney (which I have to agree with him on, even when it pains me to have to take his side) is that it's utterly pointless to require labeling, if close to 100% of all games are using the tech anyway. That's like requiring a "contains nuts" label on a pack of peanuts. Sure, you can do that. It just doesn't make any sense.
The labelling is not just about the "if". It's about the "how".
